Embroidered Christmas Cards
Join Michael Skiles on Sunday, July 15th from 10-3 for his class on making Christmas cards! Read what Michael has to say about the process and the class.......
" A few years ago I was searching for a pattern to make a hand made Christmas card and couldn't find what I was looking for. Futzing with a postcard pattern, I converted it to a traditional card that opened with a greeting inside and mailed them off to friends and family and posted a few photos on line. Oh, the power of social media! The following year there wasn't an event attended where friends didn't bring it up. "I didn't get one" and "will I be worthy of a card this year" happened often. I had no idea that they would be so popular and as it turned out, friends and family started saving them and displaying their collection of cards each holiday.
Sometimes when you can't find what you're looking for, it's time to fire up the power tools (embroidery machine and Accuquilt of course) and whip up some holiday fun. You never know when you might start a new tradition! "
Michael will be covering a number of tips and tricks he's learned over the years so you can make cards for any occasion. We will be working with Accuquilt designs and embroidery and if you celebrate a different holiday, we'll have an alternative die to use. You'll learn how to finish the edges, attach a back so it opens like a greeting card and have a greeting inside, work with a light box with tips on squaring off your work so each card is a consistent size AND IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH, a tutorial on making matching envelopes and mailing tips! Phew!
